Welcome To Galloping Grandma Ginny!

A click on the links above will enable you to join me on my travels. Come fly with me, ride with me, sail with me, ride the rails or stroll with me vicariously!
Travels have taken me almost around the world except for the distance between Bangkok and New Delhi. This will be remedied March 2012 when Bob Fischer and I take off on our around the world flight. On all my trips, I keep a daily journal of my activities to accompany the pictures that I take. Also, making PowerPoint DVDs of my trips for presentations to our local travel club is another fun thing I do.
Now, thanks to son Tony who has encouraged me to create a website and is giving me almost daily instructions by phone, this is a work in progress. At any time you may see changes and additions. The pictures included have not been edited. They are just as I shot them. The next lesson from Tony may teach me how to edit!
California was home for sixty-seven years and since 1991, I have transplanted my roots into the red soil of Villa Rica, Georgia. This community is Fairfield Plantation, a delightful place with a golf course and three lakes. The best part is the community spirit and loving friends. We just celebrated the Fourth of July with a parade that passes in front of my house. From the back deck, family and friends have a spectacular view of the fireworks shot from the dam and reflected in the lake.
Sunrises greet me early in the morning........ just can't resist grabbing my camera as each one seems more breathtaking than the one before. If you take the time to check out my website, you will soon discover that the camera is an extension of my right arm.
Georgia's occasional snowfall is enjoyed as we are usually south of winter ice storms. From my bed one morning, I looked out the window to a snowy fairyland. A cardinal was sitting on the deck railing. I crept into the office to get my camera. This picture I took from the hallway with a zoom lens through the sliding glass door so as not to disturb the cardinal. When the picture was developed, the female cardinal can be seen near the bottom of the picture, perched on a branch of the dogwood tree. Also in the upper left corner is a squirrel nest.
Grandma Ginny, Brielle, Brad, Mary, Lauren, Camila and Alexa
This August will add another year to this grandma's life and I plan on galloping along into my 86th year snapping pictures and enjoying anything that comes along. You may come along if you like.
Yes, it is nice to have five granddaughters after raising five sons! But, thank goodness for Brad to carry on the Nickoloff name!
I hope a click on any of the selections above will give you a few laughs and encourage you to see the world, up close and far away, with new vision and appreciation.
With love and hugs,

This map on my office wall has yellow smiley faces where I have been and blue faces where I hope to go someday. Australia is the strongest pull! Updating my site, I must admit that I have reached my 87th birthday, but with luck, my friend Bob and I have made reservations to fly around the world next March 26, 2012. And, yes, Australia is on our flight pattern. Stay tuned!
